The Singapore leg of the Formula 1 Grand Prix is on September 24 – 26 this year. I am so excited, I can squeal like a girl. I have been looking at prices of season passes on their official website and I am torn on which to get. I want to get the most expensive but due to budget constraints, that is almost impossible. I still have accommodations to consider. I have been looking around the interwebs and the hotels in the Marina Bay Street Circuit area is so effing expensive. When I come across a good deal, the reviews are usually s**t when I Google the name of the place.
There are accommodations at reasonable prices but they require a long commute to and from the circuit. I am literally torn in half. On one end, I realise I will only need a bed to sleep on, and a decent bath to get decent in, it should not matter how skanky the hotel is as long as it is cheap and I can walk to the circuit. On another, I think, it is also an idea to get a room that would cost half as much but just as pretty as a suite outside the area and just wade through the long commute. Commuting in foreign territory can be quite an adventure. All this over the want to see Fernando Alonso in the flesh.
Growing up, I would stay up late to catch reruns of the races. Mum would always be on my case for hogging the telly to watch hours of cars speeding by as they make funny noises, which to her is boring. I have always dreamed of watching a race live but I never thought it was worth it. I am a fan and all but I have better things to spend ticket cash on. Now that I am older, I know I have to see a race live at least once before I die.
